This is a family project born in 2012 which seeks for new, more sustainable ways of living. Our desire today is to share with you our experiences and ideas in order to look over our ways of living together, producing and consuming.
From its beginning, this has been a community space, which allowed us to work and exchange ideas with neighbour islanders, friends, local and foreign volunteers, and other ocassional visitors. This is one of the main pillars of our project: exchanging.
In this search, we've implemented techniques of natural construction and used local and natural resources (such as bamboo, mud, straw and poplar and willow wood) and recycled materials (plastic and glass bottles, cans and tin and recycled PET sheets).
We also generate our own electricity with alternative energies (solar and wind), and collect rainwater for washing. As for sewage, we have applied a biodigester and a solar heater for the water supplying the showers. Searching for a more natural diet, we have planted a great variety of fruit trees and also grow our own organic orchard.
What is more, we count with eco-friendly water transport, such as canoes, kayaks and sailboats, especially useful for landscape, flora and fauna observation, and for offering environmental education and information.
